  • Signing Ceremony for China Aided Pakistani National Highway Network Rehabilitation Project Was Held in Pakistan

        On December 5, 2012, the Signing Ceremony for China Aided Pakistani Highway Network Rehabilitation Project (North Section and South Section) was held in NHA, Pakistan. Javed Iqbal Awan (Chairman of NHA) signed the contracts for the South Section and North Section on behalf of Pakistan with Yunnan Sunny Road & Bridge Co., Ltd. and China Railway 17 Bureau respectively. Liu Jian (China Ambassador to Pakistan), Li Shaotong (Economic and Commercial Councilor) and Saifullah Chatta (assistant secretary of Ministry of Transportation of Pakistan) were present at the signing ceremony and witnessed the contract signature.
        According to the common understanding reached between the Chinese and Pakistani leaders, the Chinese government will help the Pakistani government implement the national highway network rehabilitation project. The main works in the project includes rehabilitating the damaged section in the national highway of the highway network N-5, N-35 and N-55 of Pakistan which were heavily struck by the disaster. The total mileage to be rehabilitated was about 340 – 370km, expected to be completed in two years. (Source: Economic & Commercial Office, Embassy to Pakistan)
