The First Forum on China-South Asia Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation was declared open in Kunming on June 12, 2015 afternoon.WanGang, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC and Minister of Science and Technology of thePeople’s Republic of China, as well as Ministers of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal,and Afghanistan for Science and Technology, were present at the conference and delivered their respective keynote speech. LiJiheng, Secretary of Yunnan Provincial CPC Committee, attended the Conference too and delivered a speech. Morethan 800 people from Chinese and South Asian companies and organizations attended the conference.
The Conference took “Innovation Drives to Win-win” as its theme and comprised a high-level forum, dialogues, an advanced technology show, and a tour of sci-tech parks.
Minister Wan Gang delivered an important speech at the conference, elaborating on China's implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, the considerations of China Ministry of Science and Technology concerning thetechnical cooperation within the "One Belt and One Road" Framework,the technical cooperation and progress between China and South Asia, as well ashis proposals on how to deepen such cooperation.
Minister Wan Gang stressed that technology and innovation is the driver and plays a very important role in the implementation of the "One Belt and One Road Strategy". He expressed the interest in closer cooperation with other countries on all aspects of the innovation chain as well as in achieving "technological interconnection with each other" in all dimensions and at all levels to better serve the implementation of the said "One Belt and One Road Strategy".
China hopes to work with other countries to increase strategic mutual trust through technical cooperation, accelerate economic integration through industrial cooperation, achieve interconnection through joint construction of technological infrastructure, get innovation-inspiring resources concentrated by building sci-tech parks where talents can exchange their ideas and knowledge, jointly cope with challenges through in-depth cooperation on major technical projects, and realize growth and development by making smart use of complementary advantages. Being open, collaborative, equal and mutually-beneficial, innovation-driven,demand-oriented, proximity-aware is always the strong driver behind the implementation of the "One Belt and One Road Strategy".
